1. The moments I excelled in were the reading reflections. While I struggled with some of the readings, I learned how important entrepreneurship and innovation are in the economy. I dread the video interviews so much because it involved going up to people and asking for their help in the assignments.
2. My most formative experience was creating the venture concept. I already had the tools and resources to get my venture concept started and written out. It showed that I don't need complicated sources or terminology to get my point across. The video interviews will remain with m for years because of how hard it was to muster up the courage to talk people into being interviewed for my assignments. My most joyous experience was when Dr. Pryor understood why I could not do a certain assignment and encouraged me to take extra credit instead of scolding me for not completing it. I'm most proud of completing the video interviews in one piece!
3. I see within myself the potential to be an entrepreneur, although I don't think it will be one of my main goals/traits in life for a future career. Still, I'm glad that I can grow in this area and improve on it over time.
4. To students taking this class in the future, plan ahead. You will succeed best when you plan completing the assignments ahead of time instead of rushing through them. To foster the entrepreneurial mindset, persevere in organization, timelines, and determination. This will help students to do well in the class.
Planning ahead was my advice, too! You can see my post here: http://adventuresinent.blogspot.com/2016/04/its-final-reflection.html.
ReplyDeleteI think we all struggled with interviews. Asking strangers if you can interview them on camera is like asking for a person's firstborn--people act shocked you would even ask. Anyway, we all survived. I'm glad you had a good experience with Dr. Pryor. There were certainly enough extra credit opportunities that we could all afford to skip a few assignments if needed.
Keeping organized, definitely good for time management. I'm still working on it, but this course encouraged me to improve in a positive way.
Hey Rosie!
ReplyDeleteI think I felt similar to you in a lot of ways regarding this final reflection. I think the reading reflections were fairly simple except sometimes I would simply forget to do them! That's where your tips for future students come in handy. Staying organized in a course like this is so important because it can be really easy to just forget to declare an assignment, even if you actually did it. Rosie,
ReplyDeleteI also talked about how the venture concept assignment, although it was long and tough, how it definitely opened my eyes to the entrepreneurial spirit- and from what I have read it sounds like the same revelation happened to you! I also agree that being an entrepreneur is something I don't necessarily want to do, but completing this class was still so beneficial. It was cool to find someone who had such similar views on this class. Check out my reflection here: http://cassidymckbusiness.blogspot.com/2016/04/final-reflection.html
Hi Rosie,
ReplyDeleteI am surprised you enjoyed the reading reflections. I am the kind of learner that likes to do hands on things, so the reading reflections on my blog lacked a lot of creativity and interest. I would agree that the business venture development has been very formative in my education this semester. I also loved your meme! Great post! Check mine out if you can!
